The 20th ASEAN Congress of Neurological Surgery took place from August 15 to 17, 2023, in Bangkok, Thailand. The congress covered a wide range of topics, including Neuro-oncology/Skull Base and Sinus Surgery, Spine Surgery, Cerebrovascular Disease and Neuro Intervention Therapy, NeuroTrauma and Neuro Critical Care, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Functional Neurosurgery and Peripheral Nerve Surgery, and Nursing Care in Neurosurgery.

World-renowned guest speakers presented on various subjects, such as Virendra Sinha, who spoke about 3D Technology in Neurosurgery, and Wan Tew Seow, who discussed the complexity and options for optic pathway tumors. Azmi Alias shared insights into the surgical treatment for refractory epilepsy in children, while Lynne Lucena addressed operative complications in TBI, including sinking flap syndrome and post-traumatic hydrocephalus. Shlomi Constantini highlighted advances in pediatric neurosurgery over the past 20 years, focusing on pediatric craniopharyngioma and brain stem tumors.

Other distinguished speakers included Basant Misra, who debated whether microsurgery is still relevant in the management of cerebral aneurysms, and Eka Julianta Wahjoepramono, who shared wisdom in the management of giant aneurysms. Andrew Kaye discussed the surgical management of trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, while Yigal Shoshan presented on cranial nerve recovery following stereotactic radiosurgery for cavernous sinus meningiomas.

Kate Drummond spoke on functional outcomes and cognition in low-grade glioma, as well as controversies in spine surgery. Moni Benifla focused on the diagnosis and surgical management of craniosynostosis, and Vincent Ng Yeo Poh addressed the dangerous anastomosis of extracranial-intracranial arteries.

The event was organized by Kullapat Veerasarn and Phil Cardamon, providing a platform for professionals to exchange knowledge and learn from leading experts in the field of neurosurgery.
